Adult Birthday

It was an adult birthday party to celebrate August birthdays. The women wore lingerie and bunny costumes and the men were in robes and silk pajamas. There were over 100 people and it was one of the best parties I've ever thrown!

Décor The decorations consisted of mood lighting around the house for that "red light special feel" and strung lights outside. There was a "gratto" in the back. It was actually a tent with a kiddie pool in it surrounded by large rocks.

40 friends and 40 days leading up to the big day - each friend does something for the special birthday girl - flowers, spa , lunch, shopping, picnics, nails , train to nyc for the day , hot air balloon ride, cooking class.... etc... on the day of the party - everyone gets together at your favorite restaurant and everyone treats the birthday girl with the photo album from their special days - all 40 of them, made into one album...... it's thoughtful, fun and always nice to be with friends....

Invitation 40 is fabulous party! please come and celebrate courtney's 40th on october 4th, 2009 at the brickside restaurant, lionville , pa. you are fabulous and so is she! please plan on wearing your most fabulous outfit and your dancing shoes!

Décor courtney's favorite color is purple - each table will be draped in purple organza with simple white flowers in the middle. purple and white swags of fabric draped from the ceiling. white candles on the tables for a soft lighted room, and purple corsages for all of the fabulous ladies!

The theme of the party would be Army. Finger food would be served, such as vegetable in army weapon shaped trays, fruit in an watermelon cut in the shape of a granade. Shots of whatever in granade shape glasses. Pistols, shot guns, and bombs will be handed out at the door which would have numbers attached for a chance to win a romantic getaway overnight. The music of course would have to be disco, so a girl can get her groove on by "Shaking a groove thang". Some ol school love music for a little smooching.

For our friend's birthday, we decided to throw a party based on the phrase "Rags to Riches." Guests were invited to dress for the theme. We asked them to either be "a rag" or "a rich." For "a rag" we suggested being cut off jeans, sleeveless t-shirts with holes, old shoes, etc. For "a rich" we suggested more formal attire, such as suits, ties, formal dresses, etc. The best moment of the party was when the guest of honor surprised us all by showing up in a white tux! I think this a great and inventive theme, perfect for any adult party. I certainly recommend it for anyone!

Décor For decorations, we used black and pink to continue the contrasting feel of the party. For next time, I would love to use garbage bags to create traditional party decorations, such as a banner or table skirt. There certainly are a lot of ways to take this party depending on your budget.

I planned a big 65th birthday for my husband, Derek, and prior to the party, I sent all my husband's friends and family an email asking them to call a toll-free number and record their favorite story that they had for my husband.

We presented the CD with all the recordings to my husband and played it at the party and I have to say it was the most special thing - it really transformed the party.
