Butterfly Garden Birthday Cake for a Girl's Party
Partygoers 6-10
Invitation We made butterfly chain invitations by cutting out butterfly shapes from flower patterned scrapbook paper. Each invite had 3 butterfly shapes with a hole punched in them, tied along a strand of thin ribbon. Party details were on the back of each butterfly. It was so cute!
Décor We bought a bunch of costume fairy wings and hung them from the trees with fishing line. We also bought toy butterflies and scattered them on the party table.
Food Butterfly Garden Birthday Cake. I bought white fondant, rolled it out, and stamped out butterflies using a cookie cutter. I put a green floral wire on each one, and let the fondant harden. I used colorful food writer pens to draw butterfly designs on the fondant. I bought a cake decorated with buttercream flowers, and inserted the floral wire on my butterflies into the cake, all at different heights, as if they were flying in a garden. I also made butterfly shaped PB&J sandwiches using a cookie cutter.
Drinks I froze strawberries and put them in glasses of pink lemonade with straws that had flower blossoms on them. The straws were in the Luau area of a party store.
Other elements I found a bunch of butterfly crafts at a craft store like foam butterfly shapes to put on door hangers, and a butterfly windsock for the kids to assemble, decorate and take home.
