TV Show Parties: Cops, Robbers, Heroes & Hotties

I Love NY Mints at NYC Webstore for a Law & Order Party
The good, the bad, and the totally hot are back on TV with an exciting new season. It's time to party! Invite your friends and family over to celebrate, while watching your favorite dramatic series with some of the theme ideas below. Then, come on back to Celebrations and join us for a party recap. Send Photos!
Prisonbreak - Fox, Season Premiere September 17, airs Mondays at 8:00/7:00c
Black and white are the latest trend in party colors, as well as the motif of old prison movie costumes. Why not go with it for your Prisonbreak party! For starters, mix it up with a white tablecloth and black cocktail napkins, or vice versa. And, since Halloween is right around the corner, you'll find a great selection of black color party decor in stores, such as candles, straws, or novelty cocktail items. Then head over to the costume shop, and pick up a bunch of plastic handcuffs to snap on the stems of drink glasses. As homage to the show's ingenious plot point, where Michael has a prison blueprint tattoo, offer a selection of temporary tattoos for guests to ink up at the party.

Las Vegas - NBC, Season Premiere September 28, airs Fridays at 10:00/9:00c
Ah, Las Vegas! True TV eye-candy, with Josh Duhamel, Vanessa, Molly, Nikki, and now, Tom Selleck on the show. For this TV party, think poker chips! Dress up your cocktail stemware with poker chips drink charms. Here's how: drill a small hole in the chip's rim and slip in a wire hoop earring (available in the jewelry section of most craft stores). As a take-home trinket for guests, look for poker chip key rings or poker chip lighters, which I often see at mini-marts. For a casino style entrance, go to
Stumps Party, where they sell a beaded doorway curtain with poker chips. Food for this affair can be as easy as "chips" and dip, or spiced nuts served in a swanky glass. As a finishing touch, fill an oversize Martini glass with chocolate poker chips for guests to nibble on. I've found 1-foot high drink glasses at Michaels Arts & crafts stores for a great price.
Law & Order: SVU - NBC, Season Premiere September 25, airs Tuesdays at 10:00/9:00c
Will this be the season where Olivia and Eliot finally get together? I am a serious fan of this longtime cop drama, in addition to all the Law and Order shows. A great way to celebrate their 9th season is with a New York Deli Party. You can pick up a pre-made deli tray at most grocery stores, and make it special with a selection of gourmet mustards, an assortment of pickles, and a few loaves of rye. Beer is the only way to go for this casual gathering and, of course, a New York style cheesecake for dessert, such as Junior's Pumpkin Swirl Cheesecake. For an easy way to accent this party, visit NYC Webstore, where you'll find a ton of "I Love NY" items like cocktail napkins or mint tins. On a side note: I spent a bit of time with Chris Meloni when he lived in Hollywood. I went to a party at his home, played charades, and drank Lemon Drops. I remember when he got this job! A group of us went to a bar to listen to a friend's band. He arrived late with the news that he landed a role on the new Law & Order series.
Heroes - NBC, Season Premiere September 24, airs Mondays at 9:00/8:00c
Host a party deserving of a hero's welcome, with a star-studded table spread. Use mini star-shaped cookie cutters to make star garnishes from red, yellow, or green peppers, and toss them into pasta. Top party dip with a stenciled star design using minced red peppers (pictured). You can also use larger cutters to make star finger sandwiches, or sugar cookies for dessert. A classic red, white and blue color scheme will add a note of patriotism to your party. Over at Oriental Trading there is a wide selection of novelty items in red, white, and blue from gumballs to drink can insulators. They also have a Patriotic Scene Setter Pack, which is essentially a flag-themed, wall mural kit, so you can create the ultimate heroic atmosphere in your living room.
