St. Patrick's Day Party Ideas For All Ages

With spring comes lots of green; grass peaking out from underneath all the snow, leaves blooming from the trees and of course, St. Patrick's Day marks the start of everything and anything green!

The best part about St. Patrick's Day is that it's a perfect holiday for the whole family. Kids love the tradition of wearing green (and eating green treats!), and of course adults love the Irish whiskey and green beer. We have a couple clever ideas for you to throw a St. Patrick’s Day party that is fun for all ages! Just don’t forget to keep something green on hand for the occasion – no one likes to be pinched!

For the Kids: Add some festive flair to traditional orange soda with these adorable four-leaf clover straws! The green and orange together make for excellent St. Patrick's Day sodas. And for a fun and easy craft the kids will love doing, make these DIY leprechaun hats that double as a holder for your green popcorn! We used Sour Green Apple Popcorn from The Popcorn Factory because it has such a fun, vibrant green color. Plus, the flavor is perfect for kids.

Supplies
  • Green, Yellow, Black construction paper
  • Glue/Tape
  • Popcorn Factory Sour Green Apple Popcorn
  • Green bendy straws
  • Orange soda in glass bottles, or in clear glass tumblers
Directions

To Make the Hats: Cut about an inch longways off of a piece of green construction paper. Use another piece of green to make a large circle for the hat base. Tape the top in a cylinder over the base. Make sure it is secure so the popcorn treats don’t fall out! Finish with a slim strip of black construction paper for the belt, and a gold hollow square for the buckle.

To Make the Clover Straws: Simply fold a piece of green construction paper in half, and cut two semi-circles that connect. It makes a lucky four-leaf clover! Trim just a small slit to slip the straw into so that it stays secure.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup freshly brewed hot coffee (we used Fannie May Pixie Coffee)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 jigger Irish whiskey (1 1/2 ounces or 3 tablespoons)
  • Heavy cream, slightly whipped (or half-and-Half)
Directions

Brew fresh Fannie May coffee and pour into mugs over 1 tablespoon each (to taste) of brown sugar. Stir in about one shot of Irish Whiskey. Top with heaping spoonfuls of heavy cream.
