Easy & Bright Citrus Fruit Craft for Kids

With summer still in session, it can be hard to come up with fun activities and crafts for the kids to keep busy! Before the kids head back off to school, give them this fun and entertaining craft while citrus fruits are still in season.

This tutti-fruity craft is not only frugal but very creative! Use fruit found in your own home to create fun and festive pieces of artwork. Plus, the lemons and oranges look really cool after they are all covered in paint. These are fun pieces of art work that can hang on your fridge or on their desk!

  • Lemon and Orange halves (4-10 depending on how many colors you want!)
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Newspaper
  • Paper towels
  • Canvases

To prevent spills, lay out newspaper as a surface for your craft. Cut your lemons and oranges into halves.

For a more abstract stamp just lightly press a paper towel against your lemon or orange half to absorb a little moisture. For a defined ‘citrus print’ you can completely absorb the moisture from the fruit. Paint your fruit halves with the colors of your choice!

On your canvas, press your painted fruit halves against the canvas for 5-10 seconds. Decorate your canvas as you wish. Let dry for an hour or 2 and enjoy your new beautiful pieces of artwork!
