4 Patriotic Picnic Basket Ideas

Whether our plans for celebrating the 4th of July this year are spending time with family, heading to the beach for a bonfire or grabbing a blanket and watching the fireworks, we love packing a picnic basket to bring along tons of goodies. This year, we suggest skipping the barbecue and lying out in the grass.

There are tons of easy ways to pack a picnic basket and still give it that all-American patriotic touch. Not only do you probably have all of these items in your house already, they are all affordable to purchase if you need to.

For a patriotic picnic basket, we suggest always having a fun dessert, creative cocktail and of course snacks.

Mason Jar Desserts

Not only are the portable, you can have a little fun with the colors of each person's little dessert. For an easy treat, we put together a patriotic mason jar with angel food cake, whipped cream and berries. Incorporating red, white and blue we created a budget-friendly dessert everyone will love.

Drinks for all Ages

Lemonade is an easy winner when it comes to a summertime sip. Add a few blueberries and raspberries to their cups for an instant patriotic touch. For adults, we suggest spiking your lemonade with Acai liquor to create a quick grown-up punch at your picnic.

Patriotic Snack

Terra Chips come out with a festive brand of chips every year called Stripes & Blues. Their chips are a healthy mix of blue potatoes, sweet potatoes and striped beets. Grab a bag for an easy all-American touch!

Odds & Ends

For the most part, picnic snacks and bites don't require utensils, but since we're packing mason jars, we suggest bringing along a few bunches of forks and spoons. Pick up white plastic utensils from any local store and wrap them with a blue napkin. Tie them securely with a white or red ribbon and you've got a simple and easy way to pack them up.

Additionally, you can pack a blue or red blanket and white cups to add to your all-American picnic theme.
