Host a Simple & Sophisticated Christmas Cocktail Party

Christmas is at its best when it is about tradition, so why not start your own tradition by throwing a Christmas party for friends? The season can be busy and hectic, so here are some ideas to throwing a party with great details that won’t take too much of your time or money.

Create the focal point and mood for your party by hanging wreaths along a wall at different heights with this simple DIY. You can decorate them however you’d like, or leave them as they are. This could become the backdrop for photos or hang over a table of food. Add the garland behind them for a more festive look!

Have these Bacon-Wrapped Mushrooms with Ricotta Cheese ready for guests to eat when they walk in, along with the sparkly Champagne Cocktail with Grapefruit and Fennel. The bacon-wrapped mushrooms will be a hit and go really well with the cocktail. I guarantee these will get everyone in the mood to celebrate.

You can also set the mood with some fresh flowers, like I did with a Classic All-White Arrangement from 1-800-Flowers. I also set out cute tins of Mint Meltaways and Peppermint Bark from Fannie May, which worked as both a sweet treat for my guests and a festive pop of holiday decor.

Hand these jars of Peppermint Schnapps to guests as they leave as a party favor – or end the night by making cups of hot chocolate and schnapps for guests to enjoy. Either way, guests will leave feeling warm, merry and bright.
