Tutti Frutti Waffle Tower Treat

Fruit is delicious all on its own, but when you are throwing a special party or event, it's always fun to find unique and creative ways to dress it up. For a Tutti Frutti Themed Birthday Party I threw, I took fresh fruit, mini waffles and some whipped cream to create a delicious party treat!

Waffles are usually thought of as a breakfast food, but they are really perfect any time of the day. For a kids birthday party, you can never go wrong with waffles, especially when they are topped with such fun ingredients.

These waffle towers are so fun for kids and adults to eat, and look like little brunch kabobs. I liked to serve them already assembled on a tray next to my fruit bowl, but you could also set up a waffle tower station for guests to create and customize their own.

You can never go wrong with a strawberry-banana combo, but feel free to mix it up with whatever fruit you like; blueberries, raspberries and even pineapple all go deliciously with waffles. Top with whipped cream and maybe a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, and you have one irresistible dessert!

Ingredients
  • 20 Mini waffles (frozen waffles to make in the toaster are fine)
  • 3-4 large bananas
  • 10 large strawberries
  • Whipped cream
  • 10 long wooden skewers, to assemble
Directions

Start by preparing your toaster waffles, according to package directions. Set aside. Then, slice your bananas into small rounds, abouut 1/2 inch thick. Set aside.

To assemble a tower, take your skewer, and place one wini waffle on it. Then a slice of banana, then a full strawberry, then another slice of banana and finally another mini waffle so that it's securely on the bottom, enough to be able to stand on it's own.

Repeat with the rest of the towers. Top with whipped cream, and serve.

Makes: 10 towers
