Strawberry Jalapeno Shooters

Shots aren't just for college parties anymore. These deliciously spicy-sweet shooters are the perfect addition to your summer cocktail menu.

Made from fresh strawberries and a whole jalapeno pepper, these shots from our friends at Driscoll's certainly pack a punch. The jalapeno is spicy enough as it is, so for a less spicy drink, remove the seeds and white insides before making the shots. 

After you mix up this shot, distribute among 12 shot glasses. Set out on a tray at your next summer party for a fun shot everyone will love to take. 

Important Note: Be careful when slicing the jalapeno pepper: using rubber gloves when handling a jalapeno is highly recommended. And don't touch your eyes, nose or any open wounds after touching the jalapeno!

  • 1 package (16 ounces) Driscoll's Strawberries
  • 1 Lime
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 Jalapeño pepper, seeded
  • 1/4 cup lemon vodka
  • Sugar, for the rim of the glasses

Hull strawberries and cut each in half. Zest the lime, removing large strips. Then juice the lime.

Bring strawberries, lime juice, one piece lime zest, sugar, water and jalapeño to a simmer in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook 5 minutes.

Transfer to blender and pulse once. (make sure to pulse only once!) Strain mixture through a fine mesh sieve. Add vodka to strained mixture and chill in refrigerator.

To serve, moisten the rim of shot glasses with remaining strips of lime zest. Dip rim into sugar. Pour chilled strawberry mixture into prepared glasses and serve immediately.
