Easy Turkey Meatballs Recipe

Instead of beef or pork, these easy meatballs are made with ground turkey, which is healthier and not as heavy and equally delicious!

You can’t have an Italian Dinner Party without meatballs! Normally you would have meatballs piled on top of a big bowl of pasta, but I tend to find that they are filling enough by themselves, served with just a simple sauce. That way, you are also able to experience the full flavor of the meatball.

The key to making good turkey meatballs is to make them extra moist. To do this, I use pieces of fresh white bread. The bread soaks up all the flavors of the meatballs and acts as the perfect binding agent - without making the meatballs dry.

1 pound ground turkey

1 large slice of white bread, torn into small pieces

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (plus extra for topping)

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 tablespoon olive oil

3 tablespoons fresh parsley

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

Tomato sauce, homemade or store-bought (for topping)

Heat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking dish with parchment paper and set aside until needed.

Place the ground turkey in a medium bowl. Add the torn white bread, parmesan cheese, egg, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. Using a fork, carefully stir together the mixture until all the ingredients are mixed throughout the ground turkey. Using your hands, roll the mixture into 1-1/2 inch round balls. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet. Continue rolling until you have finished and filled up the pan.

Bake the meatballs until they have cooked throughout, about 20-30 minutes.

While the meatballs are cooking, heat up the tomato sauce.

To serve, place the meatballs in the bowl and top with tomato sauce and a few sprinkles of Parmesan cheese.

Note: The meatballs can be made ahead of time and re-heated. Just be sure to sauce them right before serving.
