Celebrate Another Year With a Birthday Cake Milkshake

Every time someone in my family has a birthday coming up, I try to come up with a unique dessert that plays off of a classic birthday cake. Whether this is an ice cream sundae with frosting and rainbow sprinkles, layered brownies with candles, or a pancake breakfast cake, it’s fun to put a twist on the expected.

For a recent birthday, I was inspired by the perfect duo of cake and ice cream to create a birthday cake milkshake. This recipe uses Harry London Birthday Clusters, which are white chocolate with crispy rice and sprinkles inside. The crunchy goodness inside that comes from the crispy rice adds a little extra fun to it. Just try and keep these clusters away from kids.

To make this unique birthday treat, combine all the cool, smooth yumminess of a vanilla ice cream shake with the extra decadence of the birthday clusters. Top it off with whipped cream and a cut strawberry for extra color and you’re all set!


2 cups vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup milk
5 Harry London birthday clusters
Whipped cream
1 small strawberry

  1. Roughly chop your birthday clusters and set them aside.
  2. Add the vanilla ice cream to your blender. Toss in the birthday cluster crumbs.
  3. Add the milk and blend away, adding more milk to achieve your desired consistency.
  4. Pour into a cup and top with whipped cream.
  5. Remove the stem from the strawberry and slice it in half length-wise. Add to whipped cream topping. Optional: Cut the top of the strawberry into two rounded ends to create a strawberry heart.
  6. Serve with a thick straw, and enjoy!
