Winter Evergreen & Berry Wreath

The holidays are coming and with it, the abundance of traditional Christmas décor – you know, the kind that’s all sorts of red and green with Santa’s face plastered all over it?

While it’s certainly festive, sometimes it is nice to take a break from the Santa theme and embrace the natural elements of the holiday season. Not only does more natural decor make a nice change from the norm, the theme also allows you to display your wreath long after the holiday season has ended.

Taking inspiration from the winter landscape, this DIY holiday wreath incorporates the red, white and green of the holiday while also bringing in all that’s beautiful about the season itself. With red winter berries, festive snow white birds and lush green foliage, it’s a gorgeous and simple design that will impress any guest dropping over for a visit!

Wire Wreath

Step 1: Using a wire frame wreath and your hot glue gun, wrap the moss around the top of the wreath frame to hide the wire frame.

Step 2: Secure the wire to the frame by wrapping wire around the frame. This step adds extra security to the moss and will allow it to work as the foundation to the wreath.

Step 3: Position your berry garland around the moss-covered wreath, and then secure it by wiring 4 points (12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock) together, taking care to hide the wire from the front of the wreath.

Step 4: Layer the tree foliage on top of the berry garland, wiring the berry garland and the tree foliage together.

Step 5: Using your hot glue gun, glue the pinecones around the foliage, adding as little or as much as you like.

Step 6: Adjust the berries and the foliage in place, taking care to cover the wire, and moss across the wreath until you have full circular coverage.  And then position your winter birds in place.

Step 7: Hang and enjoy all season long!

Optional: I used a berry garland for this wreath but you can substitute with any style of garland to achieve a festive holiday look for your wreath.
