The Ultimate Baseball Snack Lineup

Are you ready for opening day? That first baseball pitch will fly on April 2 this year, so it’s time to start thinking about how to feed the gang that’s likely to crowd into your den this season.

Tasty snacks are the way to go, especially those that are easy to pop in the mouth, no fork required!

Get ready for America’s pastime with these 10 delicious baseball snacks:

1. Popcorn: Big bowls of buttery goodness are the goal when you’re serving popcorn. While salt is a traditional topping, you can jazz yours up with Parmesan cheese, paprika or cinnamon sugar!

2. Cracker Jack You can’t watch baseball—or sing the theme song of the seventh inning stretch—without these sweetened clusters of popcorn and salted nuts. Stock up on individual boxes or make your own from scratch (it’s easy with this recipe, we promise!).

3. Nachos: Gooey, cheesy, and spicy flavors give nachos a full snack world trifecta. Load your chips up with layers of cheese, spicy cooked ground beef, sour cream, and diced tomatoes—plus hot sauce for those who are extra brave.

4. Peanuts: Get crackin’! Nothing says baseball like a bag of whole nuts to split open during the seventh inning stretch. Provide a large bowl to catch the shells, because no one wants to vacuum after the big game!

5. Flavored peanuts Don’t want to bother with the shells? We’ve got roasted nuts for every taste in your family, including sriracha, pumpkin spice, Irish stout, honey and sea salt and even coconut curry.

6. Pralines: Not every snack has to be savory. For a hit of sweetness, be sure to order some Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Praline Pecans. Packed in a pretty silver tin, this is the perfect hostess gift if the baseball viewing is an away game.

7. Seven-layer dip This dish is practically a must when it comes to baseball and other sporting events in your home. Most recipes start with refried beans and work up from there, adding cheese, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, diced black olives and scallions. Of course, you can customize it to suit your crowd.

8. Sliders Whether they’re turkey, pork or beef, these hand-held snacks are quick and easy to make—and devour in just a few bites. Don’t forget to include ketchup, mustard, mayo and sliced red onion on the side.

9. Pigs in a blanket Who doesn’t love this pastry-wrapped classic? Some baseball fans will make their own with frozen dough and mini wieners, but we won’t tell if you decide to pick up a box of the premade variety.

10. Cheese ball This creamy orb is making a comeback! Mix equal parts cream cheese and cheddar (or swiss, goat or jack), add chopped herbs and a bit of minced garlic. Form it into a ball and then chill in the fridge for a couple of hours. When you’re ready to eat, roll the cheese ball in chopped toasted nuts or sesame seeds and serve it with crackers or pita chips.
