How to Make Tie Dye Easter Eggs

Dyeing Easter eggs is one of the most fun parts of the holiday. Getting creative with unique shapes and colors is a great family-friendly activity, and displaying the final results adds to your Easter decor!

We personally love bright and colorful eggs — the bolder, the better! We found a way to make colorful tie dye eggs, and you can make them too all with supplies you probably already have in your cabinet. It’s easier than you think, but be warned it is a little messy. By using simple food coloring and paper towels you can create a tie dyed effect for your eggs this year.

Supplies
  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Paper towels
  • Vinegar
  • Food coloring (liquid)
  • Plastic gloves
  • Trays for drying
  • Coconut oil *optional
Directions

Step 1: Wrap your egg in a piece of paper towel.

Step 2: Dip the wrapped egg in vinegar and gently squeeze out the excess.

Step 3: Wearing gloves drip the food coloring in your desired pattern right onto the paper towel. (My favorite was creating a rainbow from top to bottom creating rings of color down the egg.)

Step 4: Once your egg is fully colored, remove the paper towel and set the eggs aside for them to dry.

Step 5: Once the eggs are dry you can rub a little coconut oil on the egg to give it a shine and make the colors look brighter.
