Say Cheese! DIY Camera Place Card Tutorial

While place cards might have started and ended as basic paper folds in the past, today's parties employ much more creative materials for those all important table markers.

It's always been said that beauty lies in the details and nowadays, place cards, those little details on the table that have always served a functional purpose, now act as an extension of a party's decor.

Get creative with your place cards and craft a design that blends both festivity and functionality. Use your theme for inspiration. We continued the photo theme for a recent anniversary party we had with a decorative place card that allows the guest of honor to remember the celebration with a permanent keepsake. To create this memento, I used a the photo from the invitation to signify the couple and vinyl lettering to give the place card a festive photography feel to it.

Using very few products and little skill, this memento is simple to make and takes under 15 minutes to create. Replace the word "smile" with your guest's name, and if you want to take the customization a step further, use a photo of your guest on their card.

  • 1 Canvas Frame
  • Vinyl lettering
  • Decorative tape
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Photo from the invitation

Step 1: Adhere the name of your guest to the canvas by gently rubbing the vinyl lettering on to the canvas frame using a straight edge and then peel back the film to expose the lettering.

Step 2: Cut out the photo and other decorative elements you wish to adorn the frame with and glue them onto the frame.

Step 3: Complete the look with decorative tape to create a clean line.

More DIY Party Ideas:

Make monogrammed bottles to use as place cards. They'll double as a personalized drinking glass throughout the party as well as a party favor once it's over.

DIY dipped mason jars make for great centerpieces when clustered together, but they're also the perfect size to act as a place card when placed individually about the table.
