Red, White & Blue Patriotic Wall Decor

Set the stage for your Fourth of July party with a festive red, white, and blue wall hanging. These DIY beauties may be simple, but are a great way to dress up that bare wall and really bring the patriotic theme together.

These layered rosettes make an interesting backdrop for a buffet table, and the bold bull’s-eye pattern is achieved by folding striped wrapping paper into an accordion style design.

  • Red-and-white and blue-and-white striped wrapping paper
  • Scissors
  • Rubber cement
  • Hot glue
  • White buttons
  • Painter’s tape

Step 1: Using the stripes as a guide, cut long strips of wrapping paper. I used two different widths, 4.5 inches and 6 inches, as determined by the stripes. For those widths, the strips needed to be around 3 feet long. This width is half of the diameter of the finished rosette, so keep that in mind as you plan. If you make a bigger rosette, you’ll cut the paper to a greater width and length.

Step 2: Fold each strip in 1/2 inch increments, accordion-style.

Step 3: Then use rubber cement to glue the ends together, forming a completed ring. At this point, you can manipulate the accordion into the rosette shape.

Step 4: Add hot glue to the back of a white button, and adhere it to the center of the rosette. Flip the rosette over and add some glue to the center on the backside as well. This will allow it to hold its shape.

Step 5: Once you have completed as many rosettes as you’d like, lay out an arrangement that you like. Creating an overlapping arrangement with varied colors and sizes makes for a really interesting display. Then, simply use painter’s tape rolls to attach the rosettes to the wall. A twist off of this idea would be to string these up and use them as décor throughout your party set-up!
