Battle of the Popular New York Craft Beers

The Super Bowl wouldn't be the Super Bowl without sipping on some cold brews while watching the NFL showdown. And with the craft beer market exploding, there are some delicious New York-based microbreweries that are serving up the perfect libations for the big game.

If you are lucky enough to be at (or near) Met Life stadium on Super Bowl Sunday, make sure you get your hands on these local craft beers. And if not, check your local craft beer store to see if they have any East Coast brewskies in stock.

Brookylyn Lager: The smooth lager is probably the breweries most-loved beer. It's served on tap in most bars around the city, and pours a rich amber-gold color. According its website, Brooklyn Lager "displays a firm malt center supported by a refreshing bitterness and floral hop aroma. Caramel malts show in the finish." You have to try it for yourself.

Ithaca Apricot Wheat Ale: When it comes to wheat beers, this fruity Ithaca brew is a crowd pleaser for beer snobs and non-beer drinkers alike. "The combination of wheat and barley gives Apricot Wheat a different malt character than our other ales," Itchaca's website boasts. "The hint of apricot gives this beer a pleasant nose and fruity finish."

Bronx Pale Ale: Bronx Brewery started with this pale ale. Their flagship beer "is brewed with five different barley malts, generous additions of Cascade and Centennial hops, and a unique strain of yeast," According to the Bronx Pale Ale website. "The British, German and American malts used provide a blend of caramel, biscuit, and nutty malt flavors."

Sixpoint Sweet Action: Six Point's Sweet Action is a delightful combination of several signature beer tastes: "part wheat, part pale ale and part cream ale," according to the brewery's website. Sweet, indeed.
