Mod Podge Wooden Easter Basket Idea

Here's an Easter basket idea for kids that's easy to customize and personalize according to the colors or patterns they like.

If, like me, you want to get the most use out of your basket even after Easter is over, instead of stuffing it in the attic, consider taking a less traditional route when it comes to your child's Easter basket. I found a wooden box at the craft store and decorated it to compliment my granddaughter's bedroom.

This little pale pink, black and white cutie has a place in her room waiting for it after the Easter egg hunt as it's perfect for holding pencils, crayons, and the like.

I guarantee this basket idea will surprise and delight any child because it's not only an Easter basket, it's a thoughtful little homemade gift for a very special little gal!

pale pink acrylic paint

fine sandpaper

decorative embellishment

Mod Podge and sponge applicator

Step 1: Sand the box lightly to make sure the edges are smooth.

Step 2: Trace the sides of the box onto the patterned scrapbook paper and cut out.

Step 3: Paint the entire inside of the box and all of the outside edges using a sponge applicator - allow this to dry completely.

Step 4: With Mod Podge, adhere the patterned paper to the outside of the box. Finish with a coat of Mod Podge over the top of the patterned pieces. Let dry.

Step 5: With fine sandpaper, sand around the edges of the paper.

Step 6: Using hot glue, attach the bunny embellishment to the front of the box. I also adhered three polka-dot buttons to one of the box ends.
