Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkin Activity

Does anyone else purchase far too many pumpkins each fall and then wonder what to do with the extras? I mean, one can only bake so many pumpkin seeds, right?

Besides carving a couple of jack-o-lanterns to adorn your front porch, another creative way to use them is to turn a chilly fall day into a “crafternoon” for your kids. Creating candy pumpkin characters are always a hit at any family Halloween Party I’ve ever attended and guarantee your kids will have a blast making them at home. Follow these simple steps for making your own sweet candy-coated face.

  • Pumpkin
  • Variety of candies
  • Glue or tape

Gather an assortment of candies in various shapes, flavors and sizes so the kids can get creative and experiment with different designs.

Glue or tape each candy piece onto the pumpkin.

Remind your kids that the glue-covered candy is not edible, but the leftover candies are.

Display the pumpkin character somewhere that gives the kids a reminder of their fun afternoon!

More Pumpkin Fun for the Whole Family!

How pretty are these silhouette pumpkins?! They are so fun and simple to make, so get a pumpkin for each member of the family and create your very own family of pumpkins to show off in your front yard or on your windowsill!

If you’re feeling a little more daring, try one of our favorite pumpkin crafts and decorations like our infamous DIY pumpkin keg! Fill it with cider for a family-friendly drink or with your favorite beer to get the party started.

After a long day of crafting fun, use your leftover pumpkins to create your very own body scrub. This sweet exfoliating scrub is the perfect way to treat your body and invigorate your senses. Go on, you deserve it!
