My Funny Valentine: Easy DIY Valentine's Day Candle

Setting the scene for Valentine's Day is all in the details. You can impress your guests with beautiful flower arrangements, decadent chocolate-covered strawberries and bubbly champagne. But you can also add little details that cost virtually no time or money that are equally impressive.

One of my favorite ways to add creative touches to Valentine's Day is to take sheet music from your favorite love song and add it to your tablescape. Laminated sheet music makes great placemats, and I love cutting out sheet music for various DIYs.

For this DIY Valentine candle, I went with My Funny Valentine, a Frank Sinatra classic that's perfect for the holiday. I found the sheet music online, and cut it out to fit around a glass candle votive. After securing with double-sided tape, it was ready to be lit and displayed on my Valentine's Day dessert table! Just be sure to watch it while it's lit, and make sure the paper doesn't  come up over the edge of the glass votive to create a fire hazard.

  • Candle of your choice, in a glass votive
  • Sheet music of your favorite Valentine's Day song
  • Scissors
  • Double-sided tape

Step 1: Find sheet music for your favorite Valentine's Day or romantic song. If you have old sheet music books you are willing to cut from, that works. Otherwise, find your favorite sheet music online and print it out.

Step 2: Fit the sheet music around your glass candle votive, and cut to fit.

Step 3: Secure with double-sided tape. Light, and enjoy!
