DIY Spring Planter Terrarium Gift Idea

Giving a live plant is a great way to kick off the freshness of spring, and creating a terrarium for your hostess is a fun twist on this traditional hostess gift.  Cheaper than a bottle of wine, this gift is simple to create and will take less time that it does it boil water – including the shopping.  I used a fern for this terrarium, but any indoor plant or cacti will create the same terrarium impact

1 Planter

1 Soil

1 Plant

1 Clear Glass Lamp Shade

Step 1:  At your local garden or home store, select a clear glass lamp shade from the lighting department and then take it to the garden center to match the base of the shade to the top of the planter.  Ensuring that the two fit relatively well together.

Step 2: Once you have a fit, pop to the indoor planting section and select your plant for the pot, making sure it does not exceed the height of your glass lampshade.

Step 3: After you have all 3 components, repot the plant into your planter, water it and then top with the clear glass lampshade to complete the terrarium.
