Fabulous DIY Mardi Gras Decorations

Mardi Gras is a glamorous, flamboyant celebration. Typical Carnival decor includes extravagent displays of green, purple and gold (the official colors selected in 1872), feathers, masks and of course lots of beads.

To commemorate Mardi Gras, feel free to have fun with some DIY decor. Nothing is too over-the-top or gaudy. We love the idea of mixing in the traditional (and cheap) pieces you can easily find at the dollar store with more modern elements, such as gold spray paint and confetti.

Take a look at some of our favorite DIY Mardi Gras decor ideas, all of which are fun, trendy and super easy to recreate. Even if you're not throwing a Mardi Gras bash, these decorations are great for getting into the Fat Tuesday mood -- especially if you plan on sipping on a Mardi Gras Cocktails

Mardi Gras Framed Printable

A cheap, easy and subtle way to add a touch of Mardi Gras decor is with a framed print. Themed prints are really on trend right now, and the best part if you can cheaply make them yourself and print them out on nice paper, or find a printable online. We love this project from Little Luck Wreath, who took an old frame and spray painted it white. She then placed an image of a text printable she made.

DIY Glamorous Mardi Gras Wreath

Wreaths are always a classic piece of decor. And with so many fun supplies to use for Mardi Gras (think: beads, feathers and ribbon), it's a pretty easy project to pull off. We love this version from Mardi Gras Outlet, that shows off a traditional Mardi Gras mask right out front.

Mini Handmade Pinwheels

How cute are these little pinwheels? Mardi Gras Outlet made these out of foil streamer, and attached them to straws and toothpicks to add a pop of festive color to cocktails, cupcakes and hors d'oeuvres.

Festive Centerpiece

This adorable centerpiece idea from Purple Patch DIY uses upcycled glass bottles, spray painted and filled with party masks on a stick. A cheap and simple way to really spruce up with themed pops of color.

Easy Spray-Painted Mason Jars

Mason jars to the rescue again! Spray paint some jars gold, and stuff with beads, tassel and other decorative baubles for an easy, yet glamorous Mardi Gras display. We love this centerpiece, styled by Magnolia Creative and featured on The Flair Exchange
