DIY Copper Cleaning
We've got a simple solution to brighten tarnished copper. With just a few ingredients your copper will be shiny and look brand new!
One of my favorite home accessories are the copper coasters I received from my friends at VB Copper. The coasters depict a beautiful map of Manhattan and when you put all four coasters together you can see the map in its entirety - a great conversation starter.
Because the coasters are made of copper, they have tarnished over time. I tried out a DIY home remedy that cleaned my copper coasters wonderfully. The best part is that it only takes a few simple ingredients that I already had at home!
- 1/2 lemon
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- Wash cloth
- Warm water
Step 1: Take half a lemon and sprinkle salt on the exposed side.
Step 2: Scrub the copper with the lemon, squeezing the lemon as you go. Continue to add salt as you scrub your copper.
Step 3: Once you’ve scrubbed the copper entirely, dampen a washcloth with warm water and scrub off the remaining lemon juice and salt.
In just a few easy steps and in just a few minutes, you should have shiny copper that looks close to brand new!
