DIY Beeswax Pillar Candle Favors

Thank your guests with a party favor that's as sweet as honey like these DIY beeswax pillar candle favors!

Beeswax candles are a great gift because they’re all natural, toxin-free, and they last long and burn clean. These pillar candles are made by simply rolling beeswax sheets, so it requires no melting or pouring hot wax. The honeycomb texture of the beeswax sheets makes for a great looking candle that guests will love.

  • 8” x 16” honeycomb texture beeswax sheets in natural (1 sheet makes 1 candle)
  • 1/0 braided candlewick
  • Scissors
  • Cardstock
  • Bee favor tags
  • Yarn or baker’s twine

Step 1: You will need one 8” x 16” sheet of beeswax to make one small pillar candle. Use scissors to cut each sheet lengthwise into three equal sections, so you’ll have three strips that are about 2 2/3” x 16.”

Step 2: Cut a piece of wick to 3 1/2 - 4.“ Lay the wick across the end of one strip of beeswax and pinch the wax around the wick to secure it.

Step 3: Slowly roll the beeswax strip, applying gentle pressure as you go. My home’s room temperature was warm enough that the beeswax was easily pliable, but if not, you can use a hair dryer to warm the sheet before rolling.

Step 4: Once one strip is rolled, add the second strip where the first one left off and press the sheets together with your fingertip. Roll up the second beeswax sheet, and do the same with the third strip.

Step 5: Then, use your thumb to press down the edge of the last strip, as well as to smooth the top and bottom of the candle for a more consistent look. Trim the wick to about 1/4”.

Step 6: Print out some bee favor tags (download) onto cardstock.

Step 7: Cut out the tags in the honeycomb shapes and make a hole punch at the top of each one. You can write a thank you pun on the back, like “Thanks for BEEING here!” Tie a tag around each candle with a piece of coordinating piece of yarn or baker’s twine.
