9 Totally Awesome Christmas Movies from the '90s

If you’re like us, December 1st isn’t just the start of a new month, it’s also finally time to spend a quality evening with Kevin McCallister and the wet bandits.

This year, add a touch of holiday cheer and nostalgia to your Christmas traditions by popping in one of the other totally rad Christmas flicks from the '90s. The '90s were a great time for Christmas movies, but you can't enjoy them without some popcorn. For a holiday-themed treat, check out the Christmas Tins collection on The Popcorn Factory.

1. Jingle All the Way

When he wasn’t busy saving the world from Skynet, Arnold Schwarzenegger channeled his inner funny man in some seriously underrated films. Jingle all the Way pokes fun at the crazy Christmas rush parents go through to get the hottest toy of the year for their child; the film stars Arnold and Sinbad … what’s more 90s than that?

2. Home Alone 2

There’s no doubt that you’ll be watching Home Alone at least once this season, but don’t forget it’s equally entertaining sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York! Kevin McCalister can’t seem to stay away from trouble as he accidentally finds his way into the Big Apple, where he once again runs into his “favorite” duo – the robbers formerly known as the sticky bandits.

3. Santa With Muscles

This is one of the best-worst movies you’ll see this holiday season. Hulk Hogan stars as an evil body building millionare who wakes up thinking he is Santa. This movie has continuously appeared on multiple “worst movies” lists, so be sure you’re sipping on some spiked egg nog while watching it.

4. Christmas Every Day

90s hulk Eric Von Detten stars in this made-for-tv movie about a boy who is forced to relive the same Christmas every single day. Presents every day may sound like a dream come true, but really how many furbys does one person need?!

5. To Grandmother's House we Go

I’m a huge sucker for the Olsen Twins – whether they are playing the quirky Michelle Tanner or building their kingdom with fruity scents and branded makeup. That would explain why one of my favorite holiday movies growing up was “To Grandma’s House we Go”. Sure it’s cheesy and completely unrealistic, but isn’t that what holiday movies are all about?!

6. Mixed Nuts

If there’s anything living in New York has taught me, it’s that the holiday season is when the all the crazies really come out. Steve Martin stars in this 1994 holiday film as Phillip, hopeless romantic and head of a suicide prevention hotline, who has a crazy Christmas he won’t soon forget. (And yes, that IS Liev Schreiber as a transvestite – happy holidays!)

7. The Santa Clause

When Scott Calvin accidentally kills ole St. Nick, he must travel to land of sassy elves and reindeer and take over as the new Santa Clause. Tim Allen took a break from his power tools to star in this festive flick.

8. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Whether you watch this Tim Burton masterpiece on Halloween or Christmas, there’s no denying the brilliance and beauty of this stop action film. While this movie may be too frightening for the little ones, be sure to introduce your children to Jack Skellington as soon as you deem them old enough.

9. Miracle on 34th st (1994 Remake)

Matilda – I mean Mara Wilson – stars in the 1994 remake of the Christmas classic Miracle on 34th st. While the original continues to be one of the most popular holiday movies, the remake is equally heart-warming.
