Oscar Party Favors

For the last two years, official Academy Awards events have done away with giving celebrities lavish gift bags as Oscar party favors, but swag parties are all the rage this week in Hollywood.

"Swag" is free stuff. More to the point - free stuff that companies give celebrities in hopes that their products will get some press at events like the Academy Awards.

A few events discontinued this party favor practice when celebs started donating their bags to charity, and certain media outlets hyped the tax issues associated with the high-priced swag bag contents, often totalling well over $100,000.

With Oscar night upon us, swag parties are popping up all over Los Angeles this week. Some parties center around Celebrity Suite Shopping, where stars have their pick of swag from many brands. Other parties are sponsored events, where celebs may walk away with one fabulous item, such as a designer clutch purse to carry on the red carpet!
