Mother's Day Recipes Kids Can Make
My 4-year-old daughter loves to spend time in the kitchen cooking and crafting. Here are a few recipes from my "Kid Makes & Bakes" series that the little chefs in your life can whip up for Mother's Day.
Point the big people in your home to this blog and let them know about my "Kid Makes & Bakes" recipes.
The kids will need a lift to the grocery store, and maybe a little help in the kitchen, but most of these recipes can be made entirely by their little hands just for you!
Kid Makes & Bakes: Berry and Oatmeal Cookie Crumble
Food You Need:
1 cup mixed blueberries and raspberries
1 big oatmeal cookie
Whipped cream in a can with a spray nozzle
How to Make it:
1. Wash the berries with water to clean them and dry with a paper towel.
2. Put the berries in a nice soup bowl or tea cup.
3. Crumble the oatmeal cookie on top of the berries.
4. Spray whipped cream on top of the crumbled cookie and berries.
5. Serve it to mom with a spoon.
Kid Makes & Bakes: Pineapple Cheesecake Blintzes
Food You Need:
4 eggroll wrappers
1 slice cheesecake
4 tablespoons pineapple chunks (from a can that a grown-up opens)
1 tablespoon powdered sugar
How To Make It:
1. Put the eggroll wrappers on a plate that can go in the microwave.
2. To warm up the wrappers, set the microwave for 10 seconds and push start. Wait until the plate cools off before touching it, then take it out of the microwave.
3. When the wrappers are cool enough to pick up, put 1 wrapper on a nice dinner plate.
4. Scoop 2 big spoonfuls of cheesecake and put it in the center of the wrapper.
5. Put 1 tablespoon of pineapple chunks on the cheesecake that is on the wrapper.
6. Fold over the edges of the wrapper to cover the cheesecake and pineapples.
7. Sprinkle about 1/2 teaspoon of powdered sugar on top and serve to mom with a fork.
8. Repeat steps 4 - 7 to make 3 more blintzes.
Kid Makes & Bakes: Italian Egg "Wave"
Food You Need:
1 teaspoon margarine
2 eggs
1/4 cup shredded mozzerella cheese
2 tablespoons of quartered artichokes (from a can that a grown-up opens)
2 tablespoons of diced tomatoes (from a can that a grown-up opens)
shakers with salt and pepper
How To Make It:
1. Use a paper towel to smear the margarine inside a nice soup bowl that can go into the microwave.
2. Crack the eggs and put the gooey stuff inside into the soup bowl. Ask a grown-up for help if this is too hard to do. Throw the empty eggshells in the garbage and wipe off your hands if egg gets on them.
3. Use a fork to stir the eggs in the bowl as fast as you can to whip them.
4. Put the mozzerella cheese, artichokes, and tomatoes in the eggs. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper in the eggs and stir it all up.
5. Set the microwave for 45 seconds and push start. Then, open the door and see if the eggs look dry. If they look wet, set the microwave for 30 seconds more and push start. When the eggs look dry, they are cooked.
6. Wait until the bowl cools off before touching it, then take it out of the microwave.
7. Put the bowl on a nice dinner plate and serve it to mom with a fork.
