Nothing will bring women around the world together like the premiere of the much-anticipated Sex and the City movie. We suggest getting the girls together for dinner and a movie. Consider the ladies of SATC as you plan.

Channel Charlotte for an evening and host an elegant dinner party for your closest girlfriends to celebrate the return of Sarah Jessica Parker and gang.

If you're not up for a formal affair, opt for a fun and relaxed Carrie-style dinner party complete with Cosmos and takeout.

Whichever party you throw, make sure that SATC is playing on the TV in the background. Finally, complete the evening by heading to see a late-night showing of the Sex and the City movie. It's the perfect ending to a Girls' Night you'll never forget!

The Girls - Celebrate your guests of honor. Print out portraits of your four SATC girls and frame them in beautiful frames that compliment the décor. Place the frames around the dinner table and party area, illuminated by tea light candles.

The Table - Set the table with your best China and silverware a la Charlotte. Decorate each place setting with an infamous quote from Sex and the City:

How to make Sex and the City Placecards:

  1. Print out or neatly handwrite popular SATC quotes on a pretty piece of paper
  2. Cut around the quote into a circle that will fit in the center of the dinner plate.
  3. Place a cut-out quote in the center of each guests' dinner plate to set the mood for the evening.

Food & Drink:

Food - Serve a three course meal that includes an appetizer, main course and dessert. Center the meal around a "New York Favorites"theme.

While Charlotte is the domestic queen, Carrie is the quintessential single gal. Her dinner parties consist of takeout boxes and disposable silverware. The good news is you'll have just as much fun but with less work!


Décor: Carrie wouldn't worry about décor, and neither should you! Tack up a poster or two from the SATC movie if you like, but keep things casual.

Takeout Boxes: Serve a Chinese Chicken Salad the Carrie-way by mixing up a big bowl and dividing the salad in single-serving portions into individual takeout boxes. Add chopsticks for utensils.

Low-key Entrees: Round out your meal with more takeout favorites, such as New York style pizza, Chinese, Thai or Indian Food. Keep things super casual by using colorful paper plates, disposable silverware and mismatched candles.

For the Love of Cupcakes: Keep with Carrie's no-cook policy and end the evening on a sweet note with cupcakes. If you live in the NY vicinity, make sure you get the gal's fave - cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery.

Our Fave Cosmopolitan Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger vodka
  • 1/2 fluid ounce cointreau
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 1/2 fluid ounces cranberry juice
  • 1 twist lime zest, garnish
Preparation:
  1. Pour all the ingredients into a shaker with lots of ice. Shake vigorously for several seconds and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime twist.

Chinese Chicken Salad Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon hot chile paste
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 16 (3.5 inch square) wonton wrappers, shredded
  • 4 cups romaine lettuce - torn, washed and dried
  • 2 cups shredded carrots
  • 1 bunch green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro


Preparation:

  1. Whisk together the hoisin sauce, peanut butter, brown sugar, chilipaste, ginger, vinegar and sesame oil.
  2. Grill or broil chicken until cooked, cool and slice.
  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 C).
  4. Spray a large shallow pan with nonstick vegetable spray, arrange shredded wontons in a single layer and bake 20 minutes or until golden brown and allow to cool.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the chicken, wontons, lettuce, carrots, green onions and cilantro. Toss with dressing and serve.
