Official Oscar Party Sneak Peek: Wolfgang Puck's Menu

“Simple but refined.” That is how master chef Wolfgang Puck described the menu he has planned for this year’s 80th Academy Awards Governors Ball. For fourteen consecutive years, Puck has catered the official Oscar party, pleasing the palates of Hollywood’s elite. This year Puck’s organic menu is full of fresh fare from the sea and chic comfort food.

Star chef and consummate showman, Wolfgang Puck dazzled the press at a recent Governors Ball sneak peek, by whipping up Black Truffle Macaroni and Cheese tableside.

After that, he took the audience on a culinary tour of an abundant buffet table that offered platters of sushi, Cosmo glasses of ceviche, sparkling Oscar-shaped desserts, and so much more! See a gallery of photos from the sneak peek in my blog, Partini!

Cheryl Cecchetto of Sequoia Productions, who has produced the Governors Ball for the last nineteen years, kicked off the press event by describing the inspiration for the Ball’s color scheme of red and gold.

“You can’t think of the Oscar’s without the red carpet and gold statuette,” said Cecchetto. With these iconic images in mind, the event design team created a look of elegance and contemporary glamour, and Puck created a show-stopping menu.

The 80th Academy Awards Governors Ball will be a night to remember! As celebrities dine on Wolfgang Puck’s gourmet cuisine, they’ll sip Laurent-Perrier Champagne, Patron signature cocktails, and custom blends of Sterling Vineyards wine.

Celebrity florist and owner of MARK'S GARDEN, Mark Held has designed extraordinary centerpieces for the dining tables, which will be styled for nine diverse sections of the ballroom. Each section will have its own personality with unique tabletops, luxurious fabrics, and exquisite design details throughout the space.
