A creative invitation is the first step to throwing a great party. Start your party planning with a trip to the crafts store! You’ll find a world of ideas in the scrapbook section from designer paper to terrific stickers. Pick up some circus-themed materials that you can use to make invitations and embellish favor packs.

Look for a circus-style invitation with a blank space that you can print party information on using your computer.

For those who love paper crafts, get inspired by childrens' pop-up books. Create your own Circus Tent Invitation by following the step-by-step the instructions below with tent flaps that open to reveal the party details.

Party Favor Packs

A creative favor pack of goodies is the perfect way to thank guests for coming to your celebration. You’ll find attractive paper bags imprinted with different images to suit your theme, as well as cool containers to use for favors at many craft and party stores. Give them a handmade touch with these ideas:

Decorative Edge Scissors
– Trim the top edge of bags or the flaps of take-out containers with scissors that make a scalloped or fancy edge. Look for Fiskars Decorative Scissors.

Scrapbook Paper -
Create paper fringe on the top rim of bags, such as bandana paper for a Western party. Cut shapes from designer paper, like balloons or flowers, to dress up bags or make a nametag.

Letter or Theme Stickers
– Personalize packs with letter stickers and seal bags with stickers.

Embellishments
– Use silk flowers, rhinestones, shells, foam shapes, and thematic trinkets to adorn favor packs.

Ribbon and Tissue Paper
– Bring in your party colors with ribbon and tissue paper.

To Make Each Circus Tent Invitation:

1. Purchase a sheet of paper with a fun design, like stripes or polka dots, and buy a sheet of cardstock in a complementary color. And, don’t forget to pick up envelopes for your invitations.

2. Cut cardstock and fun paper into identical tent shapes (see Circus Tent Invitation Diagram). Size the tent to fit into your envelopes.

3. Cut the fun paper only into 3 pieces according to the red lines on the tent diagram. Cut the triangle portion off the top and cut the remaining rectangle in half lengthwise.

4.
Tape the fun paper triangle directly on top of the cardstock triangle area using double-stick tape.

5.
Per the tent diagram: place a strip of double-stick tape along sides A and B of the cardstock.

6.
Attach the 2 fun paper squares on top of the cardstock using the tape on the A and B sides. Be sure to line up the edges.

7.
Per the tent diagram: fold back the fun paper squares along the blue lines to make tent flaps.

8.
Make a party information card that will fit under the tent flaps. Use double-stick tape to attach the info card to the cardstock.

9.
Close the flaps and embellish with balloon stickers.

10.
Punch a hole in the top of the tent and accent with colorful ribbon.
