Kid's Birthday Pizzeria Party
Eat, laugh, and make a mess at a Kid’s Birthday Pizzeria Party. Dress the kids like chefs and deck out the party like a pizza parlor with a chalkboard menu that spells out “Happy Birthday!” After the kids munch their custom pizza pies, top off the party with M&M candy pizza cupcakes!
Your Pizza Parlor Decor
You can go for a classic Italian look with the red & white check tablecloths, or max everything out with pizza decor from the invitations to pizza slice balloons.
Give your party a restaurant feel by hanging a chalkboard menu with “Happy Birthday” spelled out in chalk. Use another chalkboard to write pizza-making directions.
Dress The Chefs
Keep party clothes clean and enhance your theme with Kid Aprons and Chef Hats
. Add to the fun with kitchen gear that the kids can use at the party and then take home as favors.
The 99-cent store is a great place to find affordable cooking items such as:
- Rolling pins
- Recipe boxes with cards to jot down their special pizza recipe
- Chef’s grab bag of wooden spoons, measuring spoons, whisks, and other kid-appropriate kitchen gadgets
Make Your Own Pizza Station
Set up a buffet for the kids to put together their own pizza pies:
- Put a disposable plastic cloth on a long table. Make the table accessible from all sides so everyone can join in the fun.
- Make one half of the table the “dough prep” side. Scatter flour on the tabletop and put the pizza dough and small pies tins here.
- Make the other half of the table the “sauce and toppings” side. Put bowls of sauce, cheese, and toppings here along with serving spoons.
Pizza Station Ingredients & Supplies
Dough Side- Uncooked pizza dough (purchased from the grocery store or a pizza parlor)
- Flour to scatter on tabletop
- Small foil pie tins (lightly coated with cooking spray)
- Pizza sauce
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Sliced pepperoni rounds
- Chopped olives
- Sliced mushrooms
- Pineapple chunks
- Diced green peppers
- Anchovies for the adventurous!
Here’s a step-by-step of the pizza-making process:
1. Dough Preparation
When guests arrive, plop the dough in the middle of the table’s “dough” side. Kids can take some dough and form a circle in their individual pie tins to make their own pizza base.
Or, you can purchase small baked pizza shells, such as the Boboli brand. These take less time to cook than the dough, because you only have to melt the cheese and heat the toppings.
2. Sauce & Toppings
Instruct the kids to smear sauce on their pizza base and then load it up with their favorite toppings and cheese.
3. Cooking The Pizza
The adults need to take over at this point. Check with the pizza shop or package directions on the pizza dough for oven temperatures and time to properly cook the pizza. After the pizza is done, slide the pie from the tin on to a plate for the little chefs to enjoy.
Pizza Cupcakes
Make birthday cupcakes that look like pizza as a grand finale for your celebration. Here’s how:
- Bake your cupcakes.
- Tint white frosting red with food coloring to resemble pizza sauce and ice the cupcakes.
- Tint white frosting light yellow to resemble cheese. Put the frosting in a pastry bag fitted with a wide round tip. Pipe frosting on top of cupcakes to look like cheese on a pizza.
- Dot the cupcakes with M&M’s for a tasty topping.
- Put the cupcakes in a pizza box for presentation to the birthday child!
