The Easter Bunny’s Garden

Most would imagine the Easter Bunny’s home to be in a big beautiful garden. With a little planning, your back yard can live up to the expectations of the little ones when you create a colorful wonderland of fun.

Plant giant flowers in the yard for an incredible “wow” effect! You can buy gorgeous nylon flowers to decorate your party or make large tissue paper flowers with the help of this easy craft video. Bring the garden to life with gossamer fabric butterflies, bees, dragonflies, and ladybugs. Add a holiday touch by hanging Easter egg paper lanterns from the trees.

If the Easter Bunny is making a special appearance at your party, think about the friendliest option for your little guests. Many kids around three years old are afraid of fully costumed characters wearing masks. Consider inviting an Easter Bunny who wears a furry costume, floppy ears on a headband, and has a simple painted face with a couple of whiskers and rosy cheeks. Of course, there will be kids that may ask where the “real” Easter Bunny is. Like Santa, he has many official helpers who attend parties in his honor!

Easter Basket Decorating Station

Easter Baskets

Keep kids entertained before they look for the loot with an Easter Basket Decorating Station. Set up a craft table where kids can dress up plain baskets or gift bags that will hold the eggs they collect on the hunt. You may choose to provide the baskets or ask parents to bring one from home. Take a trip to the craft store and pick up ribbon, boas, self-adhesive jewels, silk flowers, and assorted holiday items to decorate the baskets.

For a novel way to apply items to baskets, check out glue dots. These are dabs of clear glue on a strip of paper that are easy to use and spill-proof! Look for Zots 3-D glue dots to apply chunky items like fake gems or flowers.

The Great Easter Egg Hunt

Jelly Beans!

The grand finale of your celebration will be the Easter egg hunt. Make treasure eggs by filling bright-colored plastic eggs with chocolate, candy, money and small holiday trinkets like fuzzy little toy chicks. Hide the eggs around your yard about 30 minutes before guests arrive. You may wish to hide real eggs as well, but remember where you put them or you may have an unpleasant discovery in a couple of weeks if left unfound.

Consider offering a grand prize such as a gift card to a video store, certificate to a movie theater, or a large chocolate bunny. You can hide one golden egg or put a slip of paper with the words, “You Won!” inside. At the end of the hunt, announce that there is a special prize for the person with the golden egg or winning message!
